The Centre for Systemic Constellations
The Centre for Systemic Constellations (The CSC), is an international group of therapists. The commissioned me to help rebrand and restructure their online presence.
I sat down with the director of The CSC to listen to exactly what she wanted from their brand and their website. She wanted to generate a real community, somewhere people could go for support for a variety of different issues.
Inspired by this sense of community, I came up with The CSC’s logo design. The meaning behind the design was to evoke people coming together around a centre. Using colour theory, I took the calming hues of orange, green and blue, and adding a base ochre to them so that they had a similar intensity. This is much like how Farrow and Ball create their ranges. I selected the fonts ‘Lora’ and ‘Montserrat’ for their legibility and the way they play off each other for both approachability and clarity.
Using this information, I created The CSC’s brand guidelines and the website grew from this. Alongside the standard website pages, I built a custom calendar, using various categories of event types. For people to represent themselves in the community section, there is a map facility to showcase their services. There is also a resource hub that is user-level locked. This means if you are a subscriber to the newsletter, you see more information than the average guest.
They also had an extensive list of subscribers from their last site, and did not want to lose this. One of the challenges was to integrate these subscribers into the new site. Generating secure, unique logins and passwords for over 1000 people was a logistical puzzle. Especially as immediate access to the resources on the new site had to work first time for it to be seamless!
User Guide
This website was a much larger platform than I had developed before, and would be maintained by various members of the organisation. I felt it necessary to create an in-depth guide to help people operate the site’s back-end.
I wrote this in plain English (complete with annotated screenshots). This allowed even those new to the concept of WordPress to be able to confidently edit the site. I made sure to cover all bases from post creation to changing user roles.
